Suitable for adults.
Class size 8 max.

Learn the traditional craft of bookbinding and make your own beautiful sketchbook with book artist Alexandra Czinczel in this workshop. Suitable for beginners.

Make your own multi-section hardcover sketchbook using various specialist tools and materials, take a look at paper grain and find out why it is so important in bookbinding. We will go through each step of making a book from folding the pages to sewing the book block, attaching endpapers, making a hard cover using greyboard and bookcloth, to attaching your book block to the cover and putting it into a nipping press to finish.

You will be able to take home your unique handmade sketchbook and you will have gained the skill and knowledge to carry on making books at home. We will also talk about alternatives to some of the specialist tools so you can continue making books at home without having to invest in expensive equipment.

What to bring

All tools and materials will be provided but it would be useful to bring a set square if you have one.
