Courses & Workshops

We run short courses for adults at our print studio using a book press press for linocut and relief work, a large etching press for intaglio, lithography, collagraph and lino, and vacuum beds or textile tables for silkscreen.
We also run printmaking classes for young people and family workshops.

Workshops for Adults

Screen printing using vacuum beds during a courseScreen Printing One  5 hours  £65
Make photo stencils from your own artwork and screen print them onto paper or textiles with Xtina Lamb. Coat a screen with emulsion, prepare your artwork, create the stencil and print with water based inks using a vacuum bed or textile table.

Following on from Screen Printing One, develop your printing skill and combine with further techniques. Add background colours, paper stencils, and blended colours to create layered prints and practice registration methods to line up each screen.

Collagraph plateCollagraph  10 hours over 2 days £130
Build up a textured plate using collaged materials and print using an etching press with Kristiina Sandoe. Collagraph uses a hybrid of relief and intaglio techniques, opening up a very expressive range of textures and mark-making to the printmaker.

Carve and print a linocut with Nick Morley. Transfer an image to a block of lino, learn how to use tools safely to carve your block and how to sharpen them, ink up your block, choose papers and use a book press or the etching press to make your prints.

Create a lightweight thermofax / Gocco screen from your own artwork and learn how to make prints on fabric or paper. Combine with heat press techniques to add a foil or flocked texture for a real wow effect!

Use safer metal salt solutions to bite metal plates in a two-day introduction to etching. Prepare zinc plates with hard and soft grounds, work into them with tools and drawing materials, etch the plates, then ink up and print them.

Gocco high mesh workshopGocco Hi-Mesh  5 hours  £75
Fine quality printing with the cult Japanese Print Gocco system. Create a hi-mesh stencil from your own artwork and print onto cards or paper inside a Gocco machine. This method uses multiple colours of oil based inks printed all in one press.
