Working with foiling, flocking and puff techniques, create exciting textured prints on fabrics in this workshop for Medway Print Festival, led by Xtina Lamb. Combine stencil and block printing methods with heat press to experiment with special effects applied to textiles, creating unique fabric designs.

We’ll be using a selection of pre-made silkscreen designs, some with images and some with textures, combining them with hand-cut stencil shapes, creating our own simple relief printing blocks, and applying adhesive and inks containing special binders to create textured textile prints with a wow factor.

Three hours of fun, learning how to achieving creative textile effects and textures beyond layering with regular ink colours.

People who take this course will be able to book Open Access sessions at the print studio in the future, to continue using the techniques learnt on the course.

What’s included / what should I bring?
A selection of fabrics and all other required materials will be supplied, but if you have specific items you would like to print onto, please bring them along too. Hot drinks will be available during the class.

Course tutor
Xtina Lamb is a founding director of Intra Arts and Medway Fine Printmakers CIC. Her printmaking work includes stencil techniques such as screen printing (especially with repeat designs on fabric) and Risograph printing, along with processes using an etching press such as drypoint, photopolymer and hand-cut blocks made of thin cardboard. Themes of her work include nature, pop culture, heritage, superstitions and folklore.

Cancellations

Please give us as much notice as possible if you are not able to come to a course that you have booked. If you cancel with seven or more days notice, we will reschedule or refund your booking. For cancellations less than seven days before the workshop date – we may be able to offer you a re-booking subject to availability on future classes. Please note that we have to cover space costs, preparation and tutor fees, and if you cancel last minute we still have to pay for these in order for the course to run for the other participants.
